New Delhi – 110 003.

Sub: Request to advise the SAIL units PF Trusts to respond quickly on queries by Regional EPFOs and do the needful to expedite the PoHW

Ref: Letter No. FORSE/SAIL-C/0625 dated March 04, 2025

Dear Sir,

This has reference to our above letter with a suggestion to SAIL to approach/ interact with CPFC/ EPFO (H.O.) New Delhi at the highest level to resolve the issue of rejection of applications for PoHW in almost all the SAIL units.  We have no updates regarding the progress in this issue.

Furthermore, it appears from communications from a good number of our member Associations that till now no trust of SAIL has taken up the issue with their respective EPFO. This is not expected from a Maharatna PSU like SAIL. Surprisingly, as listed in our above referred letter each of the SAIL unit PF Trusts has been rejected by the EPFO Regional Offices but there seems to be no suitable action from SAIL Units’ PF Trusts. Such a decision by a statutory body like EPFO on SAIL PF Trusts is also not a good indicator of our status as an Exempted Establishment. This is gradually making us loose our faith in our Employer and may cause withdrawal of brilliant and talented persons from entering SAIL.

As per our information from the Units, a reply to the queries raised by Regional Offices of EPFOs are still pending at SAIL units Trusts end. From discussion it is found that Heads of concerned departments/ sections are nowhere involved in the matter. It is clear that it is just because of Trust's rules not amended from time to time as required under EPFO Rules that retirees/ pensioners are being denied their due. We strongly feel that the respective SAIL Trust which has been rejected by EPFO must take up with the EPFO so that the rejection is revoked and the retirees get the higher pension as per the ruling of the Hon’ble Supreme Court. Our Trusts should not become party to the dictate of EPFO in denying the retirees their due.

Sir, in view of the above SAIL unit PF Trusts may please be advised to act and respond quickly and in time.

With kind regards,

Yours faithfully,

For and on behalf of Federation of Retired SAIL Employees

Dr V N Sharma Chairman

Ram Agar Singh  General Secretary
