Union Minister for Steel & Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas)

Sub: Request to see my Video interview on SAIL Mediclaim Scheme 20-21 and advise SAIL to be soft towards Retirees and help them

Hon’ble Ispat Mantri Dharmendra Pradhan Ji,
Please find a Video link  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjnrJRdpCEA&feature=youtu.be  of my interview by The Times Media re SAIL Mediclaim Scheme 20-21. May please see and advise SAIL to be soft towards Retirees and help them to ensure better treatment to SAIL retirees as large number of them cannot pay such a heavy premium for Super Top up.

We also fail to understand the legal, financial and moral aspects of this differential when Retirees availing OPD facilities at SAIL C.O. Dispensary with a maximum coverage of Rs.48000/- for Member and Rs 48000/- for spouse per year and only Rs 4000/-Rs.8000/- to each Retiree and spouse in all non-Delhi locations, in all urban and rural areas. Such a glaring discrimination?

In view of this, we further request you to kindly advise SAIL to remove this discriminatory provisions which is against legal, ethical and all financial norms.

With warm regards,

Sub: Request to ensure incorporation of IRDAI guidelines in the                                  SMSRE20-21 in Mediclaim Policy Agreement with the New                                  India Assurance Co. and the TPA MDIndia

Dear Sir,

This has reference to our letter to the then DP on 20th April 2020 in the trail mail for advising the Insurance company and the TPA, handling our Mediclaim Scheme,  to follow the IRDAI guidelines/ Circulars etc related to COVID-19, for the benefit of Retirees who may need such support. We did not hear anything on this.

It appears that the SMSRE 20-21 document also finds no mention of IRDAI guidelines/ circular as to how to deal with the COVID-19 cases on priority basisIn view of this we have provided the 3 links below with the IRDAI latest circulars as to how to ensure time bound settlement of Cashless approval and payment and payment of claims by the Insurance companies & TPA.

1 For granting Cashless facility for treatment of COVID-19

2. For granting approval: Norms on settlement of Health Insurance claims

3. Guidelines on handling of claims reported under Corona Virus

In view of this I request you to kindly get the provisions of above three included in the current Mediclaim Policy/Scheme alongwith a general provision of including any other IRDAI guidelines / circular issued during the tenure of this Scheme. Based on this fresh advisory may be issued to the concerned Nodal Officers dealing with Mediclaim issues and to each Insured member under intimation to us.

With warm regards,
