The following Notification/ Circular from SAIL Corporate Office appears
to be an Eye-wash as SAIL could not complete the formalities with the Insurance
companies and the TPA. Since none of the requirements in para 7 & 9 like link
for State Bank Collect and documents to be provided to IRPs of the Plants/
Units have been completed the Policy/ Scheme is not in operation. SAIL has not
clarified the position.

This is to bring to your kind notice that we, the SAIL Retirees, remain uncovered from SAIL Mediclaim Scheme even after 4 days have passed and para 7 & 9 of the 31st March Circular addressed to HoPs by the DGM (Mediclaim) Ms Neelam Sabharwal remain without follow up action by her and the HoPs. We do not know how long and why the Retirees are being made to suffer for want of Mediclaim insurance coverage. It is unfortunate that SAIL has no culture of call back to pass even much needed information but silence cannot replace proper communication esp when the suffering party has only Sr & Super Sr Citizens who, on day to day basis, live with ever hanging question of Life & Death on their head. It just may be a matter of chance but I hope your subordinate officers know that at higher age a human being may not have much time beyond 20-30 minutes to get a lifesaving care or life support system in an appropriate Hospital. I believe SAIL will not absolve itself by blaming God for whatever happens to a SAIL retiree but leaving us unprotected is not God’s gift.
Such delays and uncertainties can be taken care of by Permitting the Retirees to be treated at par with Regular employees for Healthcare purposes which we have been demanding for long. I request you to kindly take necessary action to expedite the setting up of an appropriate Healthcare system in place without further delay.
