Obituary for Sri C.K.Thanggavel
With deep sorrow, I put on record the sad and sudden demise of our revered colleague, Sri C.K.Thanggavel, President of our Member Association - SAIL SSP Ex- Employees Welfare Association-who breathed his last early morning today 21.07.2018.
Born in January 1952, he joined SAIL Salem Steel Plant on 23.03.1976 as a sanitary inspector where he worked till his retirement on 31.01.2012. He was a socially and politically active person all his life. During his service period he was General Secratary of INTUC affiliated Union and led many negotiations and agitation for employees welfare.
Post –retirement he worked hard to form the SAIL SSP Ex- Employees Welfare Association which he headed till his last breath. He continued to be an eminent person in SSP.
He actively participated in FORSE Apex Council meetings in Bhadravati and Bokaro.
He is survived by his wife, daughter and son.
On behalf of the Members of FORSE and that of my own I mourn the death of Sri C.K.Thanggavel and pray for peace to the departed soul and courage to his family members to bear the loss.

Obituary references: Sri S Mallikarjunaiah
An eminent personality & the Founder
President of VISL Retired Employees Welfare Centre, Sri S Mallikarjunaiah,
the first ever to establish a welfare society/ Association of Retired
Employees of Public Sector Steel companies passed away in the bee hours of 16th
July 2018 at the ripe age of 93.
He was an Engineer, Industrialist,
Enterpreneur, Philonthropist, Environmentalist, all rolled into one, and his
foresightedness in establishing the Retirees Assn long back, continued to
help thousands of Retirees during this period. His selfless & dedicated
service is a source of inspiration to all of us to work for the social causes
esp for those who spent a few decades working shoulder to shoulder with each
other.
Born of an illustrious parents on
13th Sept 1925 in Chitradurga in Karnataka, he completed his
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engg in 1948, took industrial/ technical training in
foreign countries before joining Mysore Iron & Steel Works, Bhadravathi (later renamed
as Visvesvaraya Iron & Steel Works) in 1951 where he served in different
capacities upto 1969. He developed and set up a factory for utilising foamed
slag for building Low cost houses.
He extensively toured
foreign countries including the USA and the USSR, was recipient of many
awards and is credited with good number of publications on technical subject.
He was associated with various organisations including the Indo-Soviet Cultural
Society, Karnataka as its Vice-President.
